The phone consultation is the first step before starting therapy. It’s a quick and casual conversation between us. I’ll ask to hear about you and what it is you’re dealing with, and then if I think I can help you, I’ll tell you about how I might work with your concerns, and I’ll answer any questions you have.
I am not everyone’s therapist.
Before you reach out to me, I think it is important for you to understand that I have a distinctive personality that shows up in my work with clients. Also, I only help where I think I’m capable and competent. My personal style are skillset are not a good fit for everyone, and I use the phone consultation to assess our potential fit.
There is no pressure to book with me after the call.
Don’t worry about hurting my feelings. If you or I determine we’re not a good fit, I’ll offer you a referral, or I’ll use what you’ve told me about your concerns to help you search for a better treatment option for you.
If we mutually decide that we are a good fit, we can schedule your first appointment at any time.
